Lillie Duncan holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the Townsend Institute at Concordia University Irvine. Her clinical training is deeply rooted in attachment theory, relational health, and Christian formation. Through her studies under Dr. John Townsend, she was formed in a model that integrates research-based emotional health with a distinctly Christian worldview.
In addition, Lillie completed intensive training in Narrative Focused Trauma Care through The Allender Center under Dr. Dan Allender. This multi-session, in-depth formation explored trauma, abuse, attachment patterns, shame dynamics, sexual development, identity formation, and calling within the framework of God’s redemptive story. The training emphasized both individual and group story engagement, equipping her to walk with clients and ministry leaders as they integrate personal history, relational patterns, and sense of calling with theological depth and clinical wisdom.
Lillie’s work centers on understanding how early relationships, lived experiences, and attachment patterns shape the way people relate to themselves, to God, and to others. She practices attachment-based, trauma-informed counseling and is trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy for individuals and couples, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and Parts Work. Her approach integrates nervous system awareness, story engagement, and relational repair to support healing from trauma and attachment wounds.
At the heart of her work is the belief that God designed human beings for connection. When stress, betrayal, grief, or trauma disrupt that design, the impact is both relational and physiological. The nervous system often carries what the heart has endured. Lillie’s counseling approach recognizes that spiritual maturity and emotional health are deeply connected and that redemption unfolds not only in thought, but in hearts and bodies.
With a background in yoga therapy, holistic care, and functional medicine, Lillie brings an embodied and whole-person perspective to her counseling work. She works with individuals, couples, mothers, and ministry leaders who are seeking deeper emotional safety, clarity, and sustainable alignment in their relationships and calling.
Her work is grounded in empathy, presence, and the belief that healing happens in relationship and unfolds at the pace of trust. She is committed to creating a counseling relationship where clients feel genuinely seen, respected, and supported, combining clinical depth with steady warmth and practical wisdom.
